ZRP FC blew their chance to close the gap on log leaders Ngezi Platinum yesterday when they were restricted to a goalless draw by Mushowani Stars at Morris depot in a Northern Region Division One Soccer League tie yesterday.

Second-placed ZRP FC are nine points behind the log leaders and yesterday they could have taken advantage of Ngezi Platinum’s 1-1 draw against Lake Harvest in Kariba to reduce the gap but they also dropped points.

The police side dominated the game in the first half with their first chance to score coming just two minutes into the game but Manasa Mugura’s effort went wide.

They continued haunting the visitors with last year’s top goal scorer, Kasimero Chimbadzwa and captain Innocent Nyoni, also coming close getting the crucial goal for their side but their efforts were in vain.

ZRP FC coach, Arthur Tutani, admitted that his charges were wasteful in front of goal and noted that they need to pick as many points as they can.

“Today we didn’t play well, we didn’t play as a team and we missed a lot of chances. Mushowani nearly got us on a counter attack. It wasn’t our day, we will keep working because it’s not over until it’s all is over.

“It’s back to the drawing board. Our next game we are playing Yadah Gunners, it’s a tough game, let’s hope we will collect maximum points because at this time of the campaign it’s all about collecting points,” said Tutani.

Financially troubled Mushowani were happy with the point picked with Lawrence Makoni, who is in charge of the team since Jostein Mathuthu was fired more than a week ago, expressing satisfaction with his team’s performance.
