Senior police officers from across the country are attending the 2024 ZRP Senior Officers’ Conference in Harare where they are
trying to find ways to combat crime through intensified police operations, heightened police visibility and vigilance at all times.
The officers comprise of assistant commissioners, commissioners, officers commanding the provinces, directors and chief of
staff officers.
Addressing the officers, Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga said the essence of the gathering is anchored on the
profound desire of the police to selflessly provide professional and quality service to the people of Zimbabwe.
This is in line with the organisation’s strategic vision, which says, ‘Calling for excellency in pursuit of a peaceful, safe and secure
Zimbabwe for all by the year 2025’.
“As we come together for this year’s edition of the Senior Officers Conference, we remain resolute in our commitment to serve
and thus boldly reaffirm our pledge of allegiance to Zimbabwe and her aspirations,” he said.
“It is indeed indelibly ingrained in our hearts that the country takes precedence over everything else. We remain indebted to
the Government and the people of Zimbabwe for their unwavering support in our collective pursuit of exterminating crime.”
He said during the past years, the organisation has scored remarkable results, realigning its operational efficacy to continue
meeting the growing demands of the people they serve.
“Through these platforms, we have been able to unleash our commitment, passion and unity of purpose towards serving the
nation. In sync with this rich culture, our conference is aimed at making objective deliberations on the operational demands
currently facing us,” he said.
“Towards that end, we shall objectively account for our successes and failures since our last Senior Officers Conference.
“I am pleased to mention that we have invited external presenters who shall in more ways than one broaden the scope of our
engagement and add impetus to this important conference. Indeed, the invaluable contributions of the external presenters will
certainly make the mega forces more profound, deep, cutting, and enduring.
“Furthermore, the inclusion of external presenters is aimed at enhancing synergy among key Government departments, as well
as strengthening the Zimbabwean Public Police’s contribution to the country’s national vision and Government’s economic
development programmes.”
Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe, his deputy Chido Sanyatwe and other Government officials
also attended the official opening of the conference.
