The mining index also gained 1,22 percent or 0,81 points to 67,17 points as Hwange Colliery and RioZim Ltd remained stable at US12,8c and US45c respectively.
Bindura Nickel Corp and Falgold closed buyers only at US2,5c and US11c each.
Only eight shares gained, four traded lower and the rest were unchanged from previous levels.
Total market turnover fell to US$553 521 on a volume of 8767 million shares against Tuesday’s US$1,5 million on a volume of 25,28 million shares.
Market heavyweights Delta Corporation, Econet Wireless and Innscor Africa Limited traded unchanged at US125c, US65c and US86c respectively.
OK Zimbabwe closed unchanged at US18c after launching its 2013 edition of the OK Grand Challenge Promotion which also coincides with its Silver Jubilee this year.
PG Industries led the top risers for the day, adding 25 percent or US0,2c to US1c after chief executive Mr Hillary Munyati told an analyst briefing that the firm will reorganise the group structure, convert subsidiaries into divisions under a unitary structure with a single head office to align overheads to trading levels and achieve tax efficiencies.
Cement manufacturer PPC was one of the gainers, closing 4,2 percent firmer at US209c while its competitor Lafarge closed buyers only at US70c. PPC is planning to build a second cement factory in Mt Darwin at a cost of US$200 million.
The plant will an annual capacity of one million tonnes. Other risers on the day were bankers NMB Bank, CBZ Holdings and Barclays Bank which gained US0,99c, US0,5c and US0,10c to US10c, US13,7c and US3,1c respectively.
Edgars advanced US1c or 8,3 percent to 13c while DZLH added US1,54c to US29,05c.
Afre, which has had a fine run in the past two weeks, was the top loser on the market today, trading 4,6 percent lower at US10,5c.
Hippo eased US5c to US110c while Meikles was a modest US0,01c weaker at US22c. Padenga was US0,2c lower at US4,6c.
