Sulu and his entourage are expected to leave Zimbabwe tomorrow.
ZTA spokesperson Mr Sugar Chagonda said an artiste of Sulumani’s calibre would market Zimbabwe to the world.
“We have been taking part in these cultural festivals and it’s a way to market Zimbabwe. We are priviledged to host UNWTO this year, so we want people to know our country. Sulu is a good performer and we are confident that he will do a good job in marketing Zimbabwe,” he said.
Mr Chagonda said ZTA’s efforts to have a cordial relationship with other artistes were being hampered by the musicians’ bureaucracy systems.
“It’s sad that many artistes show lack of commitment and the organisation can not access them.
“In fact it’s hard to reach some artistes we are referred to their managers who are unhelpful at times.
“Sulu has shown commitment to work with us. We can talk to him any time and is willing to take part in such events,” he said.
Sulu’s publicist Joe Nyamungoma said he was grateful to ZTA for giving them a rare opportunity to perform in Seychelles.
“This shows our brand is growing and we are raring to go.
“Its every artiste’s dream to put the country of birth on the international map and this is no exception. We want people to feel the Zimbabwean beat,” he said.
Sulumani’s stock has been rising since the release of his latest album, “Syllabus,” and the song “Sean Timba,” has done well for the dendera musician.
He has had a good working relationship with ZTA that saw him perform at Victoria Falls Carnival last December.
