THE Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has begun recruiting oriented exhibitors for the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (Mice) to connect them with buyers in the region. In a statement, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority said Mice exhibitors would be used to promote A’Sambeni Africa Tourism and Travel Expo.

“In order to give A’Sambeni a Mice feel, ZTA is recruiting Mice oriented exhibitors to connect them with Mice buyers from within the region and beyond”.

ZTA said they were working with the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company (ZITF) to re-position A’Sambeni Africa Tourism and Travel Expo into a Mice tourism showcase to differentiate it from Sanganai/Hlanganani.

“As we strive to position Zimbabwe as a suitable destination for Mice, ZTA and ZITF have seen it fit to reposition A’Sambeni Africa Tourism and Travel Expo into a Mice tourism showcase to differentiate it from Sanganai/Hlanganani that is predominantly a leisure travel fair,” it said.

The tourism authority said the move would provide local players with Mice orientation a platform to engage and at the same time provide exhibitors with the opportunity to meet and sell packages to different buyers.

“Giving A’Sambeni the new thrust will give the local players especially those who have a Mice orientation a platform to engage and network with local and international buyers and corporates.”

ZTA said they would organise travel workshops to educate local corporates on adopting incentive travel.
“We will organise a travel workshop to educate local corporates on the importance of adopting incentive travel as a motivational tool and add value to the exhibitors programme during the fair and firmly position A’Sambeni as a Mice fair,” said ZTA.

Buyers from the region will have an opportunity to travel around the country on a familiarisation tour and site inspection of facilities for business.

ZTA said Mice tourism was the fastest growing tourism segment in the country.
In Zimbabwe, Mice tourists are recognised as “quality” visitors because of their high-spending potential.

“In the past decade when our tourism was very low, Mice business was the pillar of our tourism sector and it is crucial to nurture this lucrative sector for the benefit of the economy,” said the tourism body.
