Zuma’s team meets minority parties

in Harare by four small political parties last week.
The parties are MDC99, Democra­tic Party, Zapu and Zanu Ndonga.
After submitting the petition, the parties had an opportunity to meet the facilitation team in Harare on Mon­day.
MDC99 was represented by its presi­dent Mr Job Sikhala, while Zapu vice president Ms Emilia Mukaratirwa stood in for her party.
Democratic Party leader Mr Urayai Zembe also attended the meeting together with Zanu Ndonga acting president Mr Reketayi Semwayo.
Mr Sikhala yesterday said they raised several issues with the facilita­tion team, including their inclusion in the constitution-making process and Jomic activities.
“The facilitation team also assured us that we are going to attend the next Sadc summit in August and that we also have to meet the facilitator during his visit to Zimbabwe soon,” said Mr Sikhala. “As foreigners come to partic­ipate in Jomic there is no way political parties in Zimbabwe cannot do the same. We also said all political parties should be allowed to campaign on an equal platform,” he said.
Mr Sikhala said only parties in the inclusive Government were having access to State resources.
Ms Mukaratirwa said they had a fruitful meeting with the facilitation team.
Representatives of Zanu Ndonga and Democratic Party could not be reached for comment.
The facilitation team had come to receive an update on the constitution-making process.
The team, however, could not have the update since the Select Committee had not yet submitted the draft consti­tution to the Management Commit­tee.
President Zuma’s facilitation team was told to wait for an invitation from Zimbabwe.
