SOUTH African based duo Panashe Chiguta and Steward Zhakwakinu will not be available for the Zone-Six volleyball World Championships qualifiers in Gaborone, Botswana tomorrow.Head coach Artwell Gororo said the duo’s absence was a big blow to his team but will work hard to fill the void.

“Their positions are hard to fill in such a short time but we will do our best to find replacements,” said Gororo.
The team got into camp yesterday and will train for two days.

Chiguta, a university student, is writing examinations while Zhakwakinu has work commitments.
“We were supposed to have a two-week camp but now it’s just two days which is not enough,” said Gororo.

The Railstars player Conrad Kupara who was the best player at last year’s Zone Six club Championships who was left out for the trip to Malawi, has been recalled.

Gororo opted to give some rookies game time at the last round of qualifiers in Malawi but with competition getting stiffer, experienced players had to be called up.

Botwana based utility player Bruce Mpofu who was voted the ‘most valuable player’ in Malawi will join the rest of the squad in Botswana.
Muphrey Chindumo and Simbarashe Chidziwa who were crowned best libero and best server respectively in championship qualifiers in Lilongwe are the top players expected to carry Zimbabwean hopes.
