ZVA to send teams for the Beach Volleyball World Tour

THE Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) has set its sights on sending teams for the Beach Volleyball World Tour that will take place in Netherlands next month.

Having had their hopes to take part in the Under-23 International Championships dashed, ZVA are hopeful their senior teams will make the Netherlands trip.

ZVA communications officer Dave Simba said: “Our application to participate in the Under-23 International Championships in Hungary tournament was not successful. As a result, we are out of the Under-19 BVB World championships. We are now hoping to send our senior teams to the Netherlands.”

The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) has confirmed the addition of two double-gender 1-star events to the FIVB World Tour 2021 calendar, with Apeldoorn and Nijmegen set to host events on September 9-12 and 16-19 respectively.

Apeldoorn is a familiar place for beach volleyball teams and fans. Since 2015, it was one of four Dutch cities (together with The Hague, Rotterdam and Amsterdam) to host a highly successful edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. In 2018, Apeldoorn also co-hosted Euro Beach Volley with three other cities including The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht. – @innocentskizoe
