Zvaraya wants to transform basketball

Sport Reporter
VETERAN basketball administrator Tapiwa Zvaraya, who is the new Harare Basketball Association secretary-general after his election to the post last week, says he wants to help transform the sport.

Zvaraya assumed office unchallenged after Kudzai Choga from the Assassin Basketball Club, who had shown interest in the post, withdrew his candidature a few hours before election time.

Zvaraya has been serving as secretary-general for Cameo Basketball Club since 2013 and belives he will bring new ideas to the sport.

“We have taken it into consideration that there has been a huge gap in the development of the junior players in the HBA hence we would want it to go back to a stage where we have junior development which will feed into senior structures for long term sustainability,’’ he said.
