Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Judith Ncube has described the late broadcaster Zvikomborero Sibanda as an exceptional and exemplary journalist.

Speaking at a church service at Salvation Army in Mpopoma, Minister Ncube said the late broadcaster was not afraid to tell the true Zimbabwe story without exaggeration.

“On behalf of the Government, I bring President Mnangagwa’s condolences. The Bulawayo office stands together with you in this difficult moment,” she said.

“Her contribution to the nation was great. We are proud that journalists like her are portraying the true Zimbabwe story.

“She was talented, gifted and she carried her work exceptionally well,” she said.

The Minister thanked Bulawayo City Council for agreeing to the family request to have her buried where her father is also buried at Athlone Cemetery.

Born on April 5, 1978, Kombo grew up in Mpopoma and attended Nkulumane Primary School in Bulawayo. She later completed her high school education at Usher High and Hermann Gmeiner High School before pursuing a qualification in Mass Communication and Journalism at Harare Polytechnic.

Her media career began at Chronicle, where she completed her attachment, before moving on to ZBCtv.

She later worked with the National Oil Company of Zimbabwe before relocating to South Africa after marrying a South African national.

She returned to Zimbabwe in November last year, struggling with long-term health issues related to fibroids, a condition for which she had previously undergone surgery.
