Voters in Zvimba North are geared to give President Mnangagwa an overwhelming victory over opposition candidates in the forthcoming harmonised elections, Zanu-PF House of Assembly candidate for Zvimba North Cde Marian Chombo has declared.

Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF supporters during a campaign rally at Dalston Primary School in Raffingora recently, Cde Chombo said Zanu-PF was a people’s party that is ensured of victory.

“President Mnangagwa called for credible, free and fair elections with non-violent campaigns and he will never tolerate anyone who intimidates the voters.

“The President is aware that the people of Zimbabwe will vote for him so are the people of Zvimba North who are ready to vote overwhelmingly for him,” she said.

Cde Chombo also dismissed claims made by the opposition that Government had deployed members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces in the constituency to coerce voters to vote for Zanu-PF.

“The majority of the people in the constituency have freely pledged to vote for Zanu-PF as they have faith in President Mnangagwa and his leadership.

“What is left for the voters is to maintain the peaceful environment obtaining in the country before, during and after the election.”

Opposition political parties have claimed that Government had deployed soldiers to intimidate voters ahead of the July 30 plebiscite.

Cde Chombo, who is confident of winning the elections, promised to pay back the community with numerous developmental projects.

“I want to encourage you all to overwhelmingly vote for our Presidential candidate Cde ED Mnangagwa, me and other Zanu-PF candidates so that the opposition will not have even a single vote,” she said.

“As for development I have already started working on some of your concerns of which some of them can only be fulfilled after July 30 when I will be officially in office.”

She said she would ensure that more people from the constituency benefit from the land.
“Not many have benefited from the Command Agriculture programme and that should be corrected. We also have a lot of minerals in Zvimba North and I will also help all the interested youths to run mines legally.”

Cde Chombo pledged to improve health facilities and services in the constituency.
