1 000 CABS, City houses ready

NEARLY 1 000 houses built by Central Africa Building Society in partnership with Harare City Council are now ready for occupation. Council spokesperson Mr Leslie Gwindi said 985 houses were now ready for occupation and so far 440 have been occupied. “About 3 000 applications were received but only 440 houses have been occupied at the moment while some of the applications are still being verified,” he said.

Mr Gwindi said 3 102 houses were under construction and they were plans to increase the number to 4 000.

“First time home-owners will be officially handed over their houses on a date yet to be confirmed and a high-ranking government official is expected to grace the occasion,” Mr Gwindi said

“We are going to hand over 958 houses to first time home-owners. At the moment we are vetting the beneficiaries and handing those that qualify to CABS.”
