Life has taken a bizarre turn for a 10-year-old Grade Seven girl from Goromonzi after she was allegedly initiated into Satanism by her schoolmates, leaving her deeply distressed and unable to attend classes.
The girl’s devastated mother revealed that her daughter, who lives on a farm in the Chief Chinamhora area, has been acting like a snake since the alleged initiation.
She said her daughter hisses, writhes and darts her tongue like a snake.
Sometimes she reportedly even laughs like a hyena.
Recalling the unsettling events, the girl said the ordeal began at school when an unknown woman approached her, placing her hands on her head as if praying for her.
A group of children joined the woman, touching the girl’s head.
Soon after, she began having bizarre visions of snakes being thrown at her while others were being put into her stomach.
She revealed that she attended secret rituals at night with other children, where they were made to eat “sadza, rice and meat” and drink a “red beverage”.
To attend these rituals, she claimed they were transported by a huge snake capable of carrying up to 20 people, and that they travelled to distant places like Mozambique under the spell of this spirit.
Her mother, she added, never noticed her absence at night because her shadow would remain in bed while she was away. — B Metro

Ntabazinduna man slapped with 15-year jail sentence for raping former wife
A 50-year-old Ntabazinduna man has been sentenced to 15 years in jail after a court found him guilty of raping his ex-wife in a bushy area near Sonjini, Mbembesi.
Bekezela Dlangamandla, whose surname literally warns that “he eats violently without permission”, lived up to his name when he dragged the complainant from her homestead into a nearby bush where he violated her. He resides at an unknown stand in Madlela.
Prosecutor Siphiwe Mhlanga told the court that on April 1, 2025, Dlangamandla grabbed his ex-wife, forced her to lie down and had sexual intercourse with her without consent. The traumatised woman later told her daughter what had happened.
She reported the matter to the police on April 4, leading to his arrest.
Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza said the accused had displayed violent and predatory behaviour and deserved a harsh penalty.

Zimbabwean man nabbed in SA with 582 passports, R147 000 cash
A 43-year-old Zimbabwean man has been arrested in South Africa after police allegedly found him with 582 passports and more than R147 000 cash hidden in his vehicle, in what is suspected to be part of a major cross-border immigration and fraud syndicate.
The arrest was confirmed by the South African Police Service (SAPS) following a multidisciplinary operation involving the Middelburg Flying Squad, Nkangala District Anti-Hijacking Team and Waterval Boven police.
According to SAPS, on their social media pages, officers acted on a tip-off about a white Chevrolet utility pickup with Gauteng registration plates believed to be carrying contraband documents.
“The vehicle was intercepted on December 8, 2025, around 1pm. A search of the vehicle yielded a shocking discovery. They recovered 582 passports, some stuffed with cash and concealed under a hidden compartment. An additional R20 000 (was found) wrapped in a black plastic bag. In total, R147 300 was found in the suspect’s possession,” said SAPS.
Looking at the pictures provided by SAPS, most of the passports were Zimbabwean, while the others were from Malawi and Mozambique.
Investigators, SAPS said, believe the passports were being transported for illegal stamping, a practice used to fraudulently extend or regularise immigration status.
“The authorities suspect the driver was en route to meet an accomplice who would process the fraudulent stamps, with the recovered money intended as payment. The Zimbabwean national has since been charged with contravening South Africa’s Immigration Act, fraud and money laundering. His vehicle was also seized for further forensic investigation,” said SAPS. — Wires
