As the year winds down, Oliver a?Tukua? Mtukudzi fans will have to fork out $100 each to watch him live in what will be the Zimbabwean music legendas first performance in the City of Kings this year.
Tuku is set to be the headline act at the Golden Oldies Dinner Dance set to be held on 1 December at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Exhibition Centre, during an event that seems tailor-made for the mellow and mature.
2017 has been a lean year for Mtukudzi fans in the City of Kings, with the music superstar not setting foot even once in the town where fans have always been willing to give his acclaimed Tuku music an ear.
However, as belts tightened this year, promoters seemed to have also shied away from inviting Tuku to the countryas second largest city, perhaps aware of the fact that his shows in 2016 did not draw awe-inspiring crowds.
However, the organisers of this yearas Golden Oldies Dinner Dance seem to regard Tuku as a huge draw, albeit the $100 charge might chase away a few fans.
The individual who is able to pay this steep asking price will get a three-course meal and drinks, while those who need a whole full table will need to part with $1000.
A sumptuous gourmet dinner, a selection of exquisite wines, celebrity guest appearances, auctions and dance competitions have been dangled to entice those that want to attend the glitzy event.
a?An evening filled not just with conversation and laughter but also with performances by celebrated artistes from the 60s, 70s and 80s era,a? said the organisers of the event.
