12 sungura artists combine forces

IN a rare case of solidarity, 12 sungura artists, led by Nicholas Zakaria and First Farai, have combined forces to record a single, which promotes genuine love.

Titled ‘Musha Usina Sahwira,’ the track is a love song which promotes unity among married couples.

It also denounces cheating and infidelity among couples.

The song was penned by the Hurudza Express leader and it will be included in his 20th album titled ‘Chigwagwa’ to be launched tonight at Bar Rouge.

“I went full circle and decided to come up with a unique concept where I brought 12 artists to join forces and record this song.

“This has never happened in sungura to see an array of stars combining forces.

“We used to be taken as people who were not united, something that we want to bring to an end,” he said.

Besides Madzibaba and First Farai, other people who took part in the project include Romeo Gasa, Solo Moyo, Batsirai Chinyanga, Simon Mutambi, Ronnie Mudhindo, Mathew Perego, Tindo Ngwazi, Joseph Garakara, Gidza Power, Willard Lot and Peter Moyo.

Madzibaba said he was always willing to help fellow sungura artists who need his expertise.

“As one of the veterans of sungura, the best way I can give back to the community is through such collaborations where we can show each other love.

“I don’t want to be only remembered as a veteran but as someone who played a role which changed others artists’ lives.

“I have known Farai for years and he has been doing very well.

“I am more than willing to help those who need my expertise because I was also helped by others when I was starting,” he said.

Over the years, Madzibaba has been credited for weaning the likes of Alick Macheso, System Tazvida, Simon Mutambi, Mark Ngwazi, Tineyi  Chikupo, among others.
