A MAN from Bulawayo allegedly lured a 12-year-old boy to his Trenance suburban home before sodomising him twice per day for two weeks after forcing him to smoke dagga and drink beer.

The matter came to light when the boy was allegedly caught red-handed imitating sexual moves while on top of his one-year-old sister. The boy also allegedly fondled his eldest sister’s buttocks.

His father allegedly questioned him and he revealed that Davidson Mbambo (71) had sexually abused him when he ran away from home for two weeks.

The boy told regional magistrate Mr Chrispen Mberewere that Mbambo used to send him to buy marijuana which they smoked together before he sodomised him.

His father took to the witness stand yesterday and said his son ran away to Mbambo’s home thrice and his family had to engage the police to bring his son back home.

“My son went missing for about two weeks and the neighbours tipped me off that Mbambo was keeping him in his house. I then went to the police who accompanied me to his house and warned him against keeping my son without my knowledge,” said the man.

“I started noting some anomalies in him and one day I saw him mounting my youngest daughter aged one. He even fondled his sister’s buttocks and this left all of us dumbfouded.”

The court heard that the boy ran away from home for the second time and was found in Mbambo’s home.

“Again I engaged police and we managed to find my son and proceeded to the police station. I asked him to go home while I finalised with the police and at that moment he ran away and went back to Mbambo’s place,” he said.

Under cross examination, Mbambo lambasted the boy’s father for failing to meet the needs of his nine children.

“The reason why your son ran away was because you are a harsh and violent father who is not in good books with anyone. You are failing to feed your nine children,” he said.

Mbambo also claimed that there was a 14-year-old boy who had sodomised the same boy.

Mr Mberewere remanded the matter to today for continuation of trial.

Prosecuting, Mr Simbarashe Manyiwa alleged that sometime last year, the boy, who is a Grade Three pupil at a school in Bulawayo, fled from his parents’ home and went to stay with Mbambo for two weeks.

He said during his stay there, the boy endured a torrid time as Mbambo forced him to smoke mbanje before sodomising the minor.

Mbambo would send the boy to buy marijuana and beer and they would smoke and drink before going to bed.

During bedtime, Mbambo would order the complainant to remove his clothes before forcing him to have anal sex with him, said Mr Manyiwa.

He said Mbambo sexually attacked the boy twice daily.

“After two weeks, Mbambo chucked the boy out of his home,” said Mr Manyiwa.

The boy narrated his ordeal to his uncle who in turn made a police report leading to Mbambo’s arrest.

The victim was taken to hospital for examination.

In his warned and cautioned statement, Mbambo denied the charge, arguing that he was no longer sexually active.

“I’ve no idea about this case and I didn’t commit the offence because I’m no longer sexually active due to erectile dysfunction and therefore there’s no way I could have sexually abused the complainant,” he said.
