A SEX crazed juvenile from Chimanimani is assisting police with investigations after he allegedly raped a minor (9) from the same village while playing football together.
Chipinge District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera, confirmed the incident which happened at Munaka Village under Chief Chikukwa’s area.
It is alleged that the complainant and the accused who are neighbours were playing football at the girl’s homestead while her mother was away when the boy raped her.
“While playing, the juvenile grabbed the girl by her hand, dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her once. After the act, the juvenile told the complainant not to reveal the matter to anyone.
“The girl did not inform her mother what had happened when she returned home.
“The matter came to light when the girl’s mother examined her daughter as she usually did and discovered that she had been sexually abused,” said Asst Insp Kadzuraumera.
The girl’s mother interviewed her daughter and she revealed that she was raped by the juvenile.
The mother made a report to the police leading to the arrest of the juvenile.
The complainant was referred to Mutambara Mission Hospital for medical examination.
In an unrelated incident, a 54-year-old man from Nhuka Farm also in Chief Chikukwa’s area allegedly raped a teenager (18) in her mother’s kitchen recently.
Asst Insp Kadzuraumera said Paul Mafisheni who is on the run after committing the offence allegedly took advantage of the girl’s mother’s absence who had left her alone at home while proceeding to her workplace at local preschool to pounce on the teenager.
Mafisheni allegedly went to the complainant’s homestead and ordered her to get inside the house, but she refused.
“Mafisheni grabbed the complainant’s hand and dragged her into the kitchen hut.
“While inside the hut, he tripped her down and raped her once.
“The complainant screamed for help, but no one came to her rescue. After the act, Mafisheni threatened the girl with death if she discloses the matter to anyone.
“The complainant revealed to her mother what had happened. The two went to make a police report and a manhunt for Mafisheni has since been launched,” he said.
Asst Insp Kadzuraumera urged parents and guardians not to leave their children alone since they are vulnerable to sexual abuse.
He also urged people to make early rape reports.
