12 Zimpapers scribes in NJAMA race

TWELVE journalists from Zimpapers stable have been nominated in various categories for the National Journalism And Media Awards unveiled yesterday at a Press conference held in Harare. The award ceremony is set for Friday next week at Cresta Lodge. Zimbabwe Union of Journalists secretary-general Foster Dongozi said this year’s theme for the ceremony is “Ubuntu/Unhu” which he said is an encouragement to all Journalists to desist from corrupt activities and report fairly.

“This year’s theme is Ubuntu/Unhu which we are using to promote fairness in reporting and urging journalists to shun corruption,” said Dongozi.

Those who were nominated from Zimpapers are Farai Kuvirimirwa from The Herald who was nominated for the Best News journalist of the year and will compete against fellow workmate Pamela Shumba of Chronicle.

Roselyn Sachiti also from the Herald was nominated for the Best Feature Documentary Journalist of the year and Gender-Based Violence journalist of the year in which she will battle against fellow workmate Gibson Mhaka of Chronicle.

Darlington Musarurwa from The Sunday Mail is competing for the Best Business journalist of the year against Benard Mpofu of the Zimbabwe Independent.

Fidelis Munyoro from The Herald was named as one of the finalists in the Legal and Parliamentary category together with Venaranda Langa of NewsDay.

Cathrine Murombedzi also from The Herald will be battling it out with Butler Nhepure from ZBC for the Unicef Child journalist of the year.

Sharon Kavhu from Sunday Mail is facing Patricia Jacobs of ZBC Radio Zimbabwe in the UNFPA Maternal journalist of the year category.
Muchaneta Chimuka from Kwayedza is vying for the best Arts and Entertainment journalist of the year but has to contend with Tinashe Muchuri of Parade Magazine.

Cletus Mushanawani from Manica Post is competing against John Kachembere of the Daily News in the ZMDC Mining journalist of the year Print Category and Energy category.

Themba Dube from Chronicle was nominated Environmental journalist of the year and battles the ZBC Team.
Kudakwashe Hunda from The Sunday Mail was nominated for the Photographer/Videographer of the year category, in which he is competing against Kelvin Ofumeli of Daily News.
