Thirteen suspected armed robbers who committed a spate of robberies in and around Harare appeared in court yesterday.
The 13 also unleashed terror in Chinhoyi, Banket, Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Masvingo, Bulawayo and Gutu.
Ray Shangare (35), Wilson Kanetsa (33), Tinashe Chikara (49), Simbarashe Tavengwa (37), Ngonidzashe Mutiba (36), Tinashe Matinyenya (28), Titus Chatukuta (35), Rodwell Mutunya (34), Khumbulani Ncube (35), Mgcini Ramachela (33), Takafa Vumbunu (37), Wilson Kanetsa (33) and Charles Nyandoro (53) were remanded in custody to August 28.
Chatukuta has been on the police wanted list since 2013, while Matinyenya was wanted since 2014 in connection with a series of armed robbery cases in Harare.
Prosecutor Ms Sharon Mashavira, alleged that on May 26 this year, the gang went to Muvhangazi Farm in Karoi.
They were driving in three different vehicles armed with a pistol, axe and iron bars.
One of the accused clad in police uniform purported to have arrested a stock theft suspect, it is alleged.
The farm owner opened the gate and the gang pointed a gun at him.
They ransacked the house and stole a pistol and valuables.
On June 11 this year, the gang teamed up with their accomplice Eden Chikahamadze who is on the run, to rob Delta Beverages truck driver, Albert Mupanga.
It is alleged that Mupanga, in the company of his assistants, was driving due south from Mashoko business centre in Masvingo where he had made a cash sale of beer.
He was heading to Chiredzi depot when the gang driving a black Mercedes-Benz registration number ACG7581 blocked his way.
