A 13-year-old girl from Karivanda village in Gokwe is living a hellish life after mysterious needles began pricking her, forcing her to drop out of school.

The girl, Evelyn Manyanaanya, was a pupil at Karivanda Primary School. But she had to drop out in early October this year because of excruciating pain.

Her father Paka Manyanaanga (40) spoke to B-Metro.

a?My daughter was doing well at school but when the needles started attacking her, she dropped out,a? he said.

Between four and six needles would prick her and remain stuck in her body.

Upon removal from her body the needles would disappear!

a?We removed the needles and put them in a guri (cortex of a maize cob) but they disappeared after a week. We are living in fear because there is no solution in sight,a? he said.

Evelyn was taken to sangomas and prophets but all have so far failed to assist.

a?My child we have suffered enough! We have gone to Binga and Chipinge where there are powerful medicine men but they failed to cast away the spirit that torments my child,a? said Paka Manyanaanga.

In one instance, a sangoma in Chipinge claimed it was an avenging spirit on a mission to cause pain to the child and leave the family in poverty.

The sangoma was paid with a cow but he failed to exorcise the tormenting spirit. But the father of 40 children with six wives, never gave up.

a?Our hopes were high after we were informed that an inyanga in Binga could help us but the problem stopped for a day, after that it re-emerged now zvauya hot. The intensity increased as about eight needles would prick her at one go. My child would cry and groan in pain when we removed them.a?

This was the second time a mysterious happening attacked a family member.

His sixth wife died under mysterious circumstances when she was gored by a cow.

a?We are living in fear! Just last year a cow charged at my wife while she was breastfeeding a child and she died,a? he added.

In a bid to exorcise the evil spirits, Kana cleansed the homestead last year in August.

However, the evil spirits have resurrected now in the form of needles.

Chief Chireya confirmed the larger than life incident.

a?We are dealing with a shocking issue of needles that mysteriously prick a 13-year-old child from Karivanda village.

What worries us is that after they are removed, the needles mysteriously disappear only to come back to prick the child,a? said Chief Chireya.

He appealed to anyone who could help to contact the family on 0771619343. .
