A 23-YEAR-OLD man from Raffingora will regret the day he raped a 63-year-old granny after he was slapped with a 15-year jail term by a Chinhoyi magistrate.

The court heard that sometime in May this year, the victim was drinking beer with the accused inside her kitchen hut, when the man left on the pretext that he was going home.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a statement that the man returned after a while and met the victim at the door.

“He pushed her back into the kitchen hut, where he raped her.

“After the act, the offender dressed up and went outside,” the NPAZ said.

The victim’s in-law heard some noise and opened the door, and she saw the accused standing in the yard.

She then proceeded to the kitchen and saw the victim crying who then revealed the offence.

An unnamed village head advised the victim to file a police report before the man was arrested.
