A RUSAPE man who was caught red-handed raping his under-age girlfriend in the bush was on Monday last week sentenced to 15 years in prison. Collins Mudzingwa (24) of Vengere who was not represented and was denying the offence will, however, serve 12 effective years after Rusape regional magistrate Mr Livengstone Chipadza suspended 3 years.
Rusape Area prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira told the court that Mudzingwa waylaid his 13 year old girlfriend into a bushy area close to the Flyover along Wedza Highway where he raped her. The State’s case is that on August 1, 2015 around 1600hrs the complainant was on her way to church when she met Mudzingwa. He asked the complainant to accompany him to his residence but she refused and he forced himself on her.
