16-year-old faces murder charge

during a fistfight triggered by bullying between the Form 1 student and the deceased Tinotenda Dube (16) who was doing Form Three.
The Form One student appeared before Karoi magistrate Mrs Nyaradzo Ringisayi on Thursday charged with murder and was remanded in custody to June 14.

Allegations are that before school started last Wednesday, Tinotenda hurled denigrating words at his Form One counterpart over the way he walked. The accused replied with some equally insulting words, prompting Tinotenda to warn him that they will settle the matter after school.  
As they watched social soccer in the school grounds in the afternoon, Tinotenda allegedly approached the Form One boy and started taunting him and boasting about his “unparalleled” skill in boxing.  Tinotenda went on to step on the Form One student’s feet before a fist fight erupted. They were restrained by other students.

Tinotenda later went after the Form 1 student, repeatedly taunting him as being no match to him. Tinotenda allegedly advanced with a barrage of blows on the accussed who retaliated with a heavy head butt. Tinotenda immediately nose-bleeding, lost consciousness and died while still at the playgrounds. A post mortem at

Karoi District Hospital indicated that Tinotenda sustained a fractured spine.
