A 16-YEAR-OLD Zimbabwean author has published a book with over 160 poems which are set to bring hope to the hopeless.

Larencia Manyengawana is a form three student at St Dominic’s Secondary in Chishawasha who started writing poetry when she was in grade five.

Manyengawana said that she was motivated by a group of writers to publish the book.

“I started writing poems when l was in grade five and l slowly mastered the concept when l was in grade seven. I met Fortune Munsaka, an award winning author when l was in form one and he welcomed me to the Creative Minds Alive family. The group played a huge role in encouraging me to write a book,” she said.

She said her poems were therapeutic and were set to encourage people in hopeless situations.

“The book is titled ‘Chaos in Church’ and it speaks on the day to day challenges that people face. It has a number of therapeutic poems that encourage people to press on and fight against any obstacles that they may face. I also have poems that cover issues to do with nature,” she said.

Manyengawana said in the years to come she hopes to write set books.

“In the years to come, l see myself as one of the authors for Cambridge and Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) set books,” she said.
