MANICA Diamonds right back Lawrence Masibera pocketed US$1 000 and received a portrait of himself, a club replica jersey and a match ball for reaching 160 matches featuring for the Premiership outfit.
The presentation of this token of appreciation was done by club secretary-general Sugar Chagonda and chairman Masimba Chihowa just before kick-off at Sakubva on Saturday.
Manica Diamonds lost the game 0-1 to CAPS United.
Masibera is the longest serving Manica Diamonds player.
The former La Sakubva Juniors player has been a vital cog in the Manica Diamonds line-up, featuring in almost every competitive encounter that his team played.
He said:
“I am grateful for this recognition. l feel humbled and honoured to be recognised for my efforts in helping the club achieve (their) aspirations.”
Chagonda heaped praises on their right back for his unmatched loyalty.
“Lawrence Masibera has proven over the years that he is a dependable, loyal and utility player. He joined the team during the formative stages and we started our football journey together in Division One in 2018,” Chagonda said.
“His unwavering loyalty and dependability are truly the backbone of Manica Diamonds. He seamlessly adapts to multiple roles on the field, demonstrating incredible versatility and a strong work ethic.
“His dedication not only boosts team morale but also ensures that we always have a reliable player when we need it the most.
“His contributions often go unnoticed by the scoreboard, but they are deeply appreciated by everyone who values hard work and loyalty.
“To Lawrence, we say thank you for being such a dependable and versatile asset to our team. You are a role model to many youngsters. You have carved your name in the annals (of the club). No one can ignore that,” Chagonda said.
