A SEX-STARVED man has told a court in Harare that he bashes his wife because she has a habit of turning down his requests for the couple to have sex.
Titus Makumbe claims his wife no longer enjoys having sex with him and each time he tries to be intimate with her he is denied his conjugal rights.
He appeared at the Harare Civil Court yesterday after his wife, Nomatter Mangombe, approached the court pleading for a protection order to save her from the beatings she receives on a regular basis.
Nomatter said Titus has a lot of girlfriends and she was concerned he could expose her to some Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
She told magistrate Meenal Narotam that she was being subjected to all forms of violence and their bedroom has become a wrestling ring and when she is overpowered, Titus then forces himself on her.
“My husband is having extra marital affairs with multiple women, he is now in the habit of assaulting and insulting me, calling me a prostitute. He has been abusing me ever since we got married.
“I am now suffering emotionally because each time I deny him sex, he assaults me for not giving in to his demands,” said Nomatter.
She added:
“All I plead for is the court’s protection because l do not want to be forced to have sex anymore.”.
Titus said he was only angered by his wife’s decision to deny him sex.
“All the allegations raised are true but l do not force her to have sex with me rather she is the one who denies me sex claiming that l am having extra marital affairs.
“It was out of anger and frustration that l ended up assaulting and insulting her.
“All l want is peace. If you can grant her the protection order it is fine by me.”
