18 babies born in Masvingo on New Year

AT least 18 babies were born on New Year’s Day at three major hospitals in Masvingo province, an official said. Six were born at Masvingo General Hospital, four at Gutu Mission Hospital while Morgenster, another mission facility recorded eight births.Masvingo provincial medical director Dr Robert Mudyiradima said:

“We had a total of nine boys and girls born on New Year Day at three major hospitals and we had no maternal deaths recorded on the day in question.”

Dr Mudyiradima said there were six deliveries at Masvingo General Hospital of which three were boys and three girls.
“At Gutu Mission Hospital, we had four deliveries comprising three boys and girls. The province experienced the highest number of deliveries at Morgenster Mission Hospitals where there was a total of eight births. Of the eight births, five were girls while three were boys,” he said.
