Man steals beer on Christmas Day

A 30-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb appeared in court on Thursday on charges of stealing beer, recharge cards and cigarettes on Christmas Day.Mbonisi Hlabangani allegedly connived with Brian Ndlovu who is still at large, and broke into a shop in Fort Rixon where Hlabangani is employed.

Bulawayo Magistrate Gladmore Mushove heard the case. Hlabangani is charged with two counts of theft and unlawful entry and was remanded him in custody to January, 20.

The State alleges that on Christmas Day at about 7pm Hlabangani, with Ndlovu’s help, broke into Douglas Moyo shop and gained entry through a locked door and a closed window.

They went on to take three crates of scuds, 45 recharge cards and two bricks of 10 Madison and fled. A report was made to police who managed to locate Hlabangani and arrested him.  Nothing was recovered.
