THE Dhingire community in Marange, Bocha was last Thursday plunged into mourning after two minors tragically drowned in a well.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying police are investigating the tragedy.
“Police in Marange, Manicaland Province are investigating a tragic drowning incident in which two siblings, Tsaura Destiny (aged two) and Dorcus Machokwani (aged three), both of Dhingire Village drowned in a water well on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at around 9am.
“The two minors are suspected to have been playing together before attempting to swim in the well. The victims’ mother later discovered the bodies floating in the well,” he said.
Commissioner Nyathi urged communities to prioritise at all times children’s safety and security through monitoring their whereabouts and how they play.
