Chiredzi is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host the National Culture Month launch, to be headlined by President Mnangagwa on Thursday.

The district is set to receive 20 village business units as a reward for hosting this significant event celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage and diversity.

In addition to the VBUs that will stimulate socio-economic growth, the Rusununguko Clinic, located in Chief Tshovani’s area, will be electrified.

This development marks a new era in healthcare delivery, aligning with Vision 2030 of an empowered upper-middle-income society.

Originally, the National Culture Month launch was scheduled for Alpha Mpapa High School in Chiredzi South, but the venue was moved to Rusununguko Clinic along the Ngundu-Tanganda highway.

Government has resolved to develop 10 village business units each for Chiefs Tshovani and Mpapa, recognising Chiredzi’s role in hosting this national event.

Mr Lovemore Chisema, the District Development Coordinator, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming occasion.

“The President is coming to Chiredzi at Rusununguko Clinic under Chief Tshovani on Thursday, and we are excited as a district to host President Mnangagwa for such an important event.

“Celebrating our country’s rich cultural heritage in an area predominantly inhabited by the Shangaan minority group shows that Zimbabwe is a unitary State,” he said.

Mr Chisema added that holding the launch in rural Chiredzi counters claims of marginalisation of minority tribes.

“The entire nation is coming to Tshovani communal lands to celebrate the Culture Month launch, highlighting Shangaan culture as part of Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity.

“This confirms that President Mnangagwa is sincere in his commitment to leaving no one and no place behind.”

Mr Chisema noted that Thursday’s launch presents a perfect opportunity to showcase Shangaan culture to the world.

“All roads in the country will be heading to Chiredzi East,” he remarked.
