THE National Youth Empowerment Symposium 2025 is poised to be a transformative event for Zimbabwe’s young entrepreneurs, Youth Employment, Development and Vocational Training Minister, Tino Machakaire has said.

It is scheduled for October 21 and 22 at the Harare Agricultural Showgrounds, with President Mnangagwa set to be the guest speaker.

More than 200 youth-led enterprises will be showcased at the convention, which aims to highlight the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial potential of the nation’s young people, who represent a formidable resource for economic growth.

Speaking at a recent media briefing, Minister Machakaire said there was a critical need for youth engagement in the economy.

“This event will not only showcase the creativity and energy of our youths, but also connect them with Government agencies, private sector players, and development partners,” he said.

The minister pointed out that over 2,3 million youths in Zimbabwe are presently not engaged in education, employment, or training — underscoring the urgency of addressing this issue through structured initiatives.

The first day of the symposium will feature interactive exhibitions where young entrepreneurs will present their innovations, products and services across various sectors, including agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), creative arts, green energy, tourism, mining and manufacturing.

This platform will not only foster networking, but also provide opportunities for mentorship and collaboration, allowing delegates to learn from one another and share best practices.

One of the unique aspects of the symposium is its focus on youth-to-youth learning.

By providing a platform for young enterprises to exhibit their work, the event aims to inspire innovation, productivity, and entrepreneurship among participants.

This aligns with the Government’s broader Vision 2030, which envisions an empowered, upper-middle-income economy driven by productive citizens, including the youth.

Adding to the event’s significance, President Mnangagwa is scheduled to officially launch the National Youth Empowerment Strategy — an important roadmap for structured youth development programming and coordination.

The President’s involvement highlights the Government’s commitment to integrating youths into the economy and ensuring their full participation in national development.

The symposium will also celebrate outstanding youth entrepreneurs and innovators who have made significant contributions to economic growth and transformation.

Recognising these achievements serves to motivate other young people to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and engage actively in the economy.

In addition to exhibitions, expert-led discussions will cover critical themes such as entrepreneurship, digital transformation, health and wellbeing, education and skills development, and financial inclusion.

These discussions aim to equip young participants with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive environment.

In addition, the symposium will serve as a vital platform for addressing the gaps in information, mentorship, exposure and market linkage that often hinder youth participation in the economy.

By connecting young people with successful entrepreneurs and industry leaders, the event seeks to foster a supportive ecosystem that promotes youth empowerment.

The National Youth Empowerment Symposium 2025 is not just an event; it represents a movement to unlock the potential of Zimbabwe’s youths, secure the nation’s future, and drive inclusive growth.

As young entrepreneurs gather to showcase their talents and innovations, the event promises to be a pivotal moment in shaping the future of Zimbabwe’s economy and empowering the next generation of leaders.
