Zesa boss defends high power tariff scheme

INDUSTRY and other electricity users stand to benefit more by paying increased power tariffs than using generators when Zesa fails to supply electricity, the power utility’s chief executive officer, Engineer Josh Chifamba said yesterday.
He said if the approved tariff increases were blocked, the power utility would find it hard to provide electricity.
Eng Chifamba said half-year results for this year have shown that Zesa suffered a loss of over US$100 million.
This comes at a time when the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries has threatened to take the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company to court over the increase.

NGONIDZASHE MAKUSHA (24) yesterday added another chapter to the phenomenal performance of Zimbabwean athletes on the grand stage when he won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
