ZIMBABWEAN born Dereck Chisora fell agonisingly short in his attempt to win the vacant European heavyweight title, losing by a split decision to Robert Helenius in Finland.
Chisora, who entered the contest at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki having won 15 of his 16 professional fights, was the busier of the two fighters but Helenius was rewarded for his more eye-catching shots, prevailing 115-113 113-115 115-113 on the judges’ scorecards.

Costs increases squeeze commercial farmers

Cape Town — South Africa’s commercial farmers’ income has hardly been great, especially for those planting crops. Stock farmers have suffered heavily from stock theft and job opportunities dried up.
Gross farm income in the year to end-February last year amounted to R121.766bn, 2.2 percent more than the previous year. Current revenue was 3.1 percent up at R89.286 billion, according to the latest figures from Statistics South Africa (SSA).
