2012 pool season kicks off

The league’s spokesperson, Preston Nyamangara, said the Division One fixtures failed to take off due to late registration by some of the new teams. A total of 20 teams, 15 of which are from the Western suburbs, registered for this season in the Division One league.
“We were receiving registration papers up until Thursday evening and this delayed the draw for the first half games. We had initially set Tuesday as the deadline but some teams missed it,” he said.
“However, we are optimistic that all things being equal we should be able to have our draw this Thursday and that the games will kick off this weekend,” said Nyamangara.
Nyamangara also revealed that the first tournament for the season would most likely be held on the weekend of 10-12 March although he could not divulge who the sponsor would be.
In this week’s Premier League fixtures, last year’s top finishing teams piled the misery on the three police outfits in the league as they inflicted heavy defeats on them.
Exchange beat police outfit West Comm 11-2 while last year’s winners Kings accounted for another police outfit Black Eagles 10-3. Resurgent Entumbane beat yet another police outfit Donnington 10-3 to complete the rout.
The results put Exchange in pole position with a superior frame difference of 9 compared to 7 which was scored by Entumbane Kings.
West Comm have the lowest frame difference of -9.
Frame difference refers to the number of games won against the number of games conceded in a single pool match comprising 13 games.
This proved to be a hard-hitting weekend compared to last year at the same time when the highest score was 10-3 when Marula beat Green Corner.
