SRC to renew pact with Norway

THE Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) are set to renew their agreement with the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF) on the Community Sports Development Programme (CSDP).
New Winners, Super Eight Tennis tournaments begin

THE New Winners and Super Eight tennis tournaments got underway yesterday at Harare Sports Club with the top seed in the latter section, Ronzai Saurombe beating Tirivashe Zavamada in his opening match.
The two tournaments are running concurrently and some of the top eight players competing in the Super Eight are using the tournament as a warm-up event for the Zonal Championships to be held from January 8 to 14 in Namibia.

FOUR talented players from Lobengula Miracle Academy could find themselves plying their trade in the United Kingdom after former Zimbabwe Saints coach Bongani Mafu pledged to sponsor their travel there.
Speaking at a handover ceremony for equipment worth 3 500 pounds to the Academy chairman Nkululeko Phuthi yesterday, Mafu said the donation and his pledge to sponsor the talented players was part of efforts to give back to the community.

Most Bulawayo residents experienced a difficult 2011 due to financial constraints as the economy was still in the process of recovery, the chairman of the Bulawayo Residents Association (Bura), Mr Winos Dube, said.
In an interview, he said the major problem which faced residents was failure to pay bills and rates since most of the people in the city were unemployed following the closure of many companies while others have relocated to other cities and towns.
Wanted suspected robber arrested

POLICE have arrested another man who is suspected to be part of a gang of robbers that was allegedly moving around the country robbing business premises where they would blast money safes with explosives.
Jabulani Brighton Ndlovu (38), was on the police wanted list following a series of robberies, the last being in Emganwini where they allegedly robbed Kugona Social Club in September last year.
Ndlovu, of Flat 6 Dorchester House along Herbert Chitepo Street in Bulawayo, was arrested early this week in Plumtree Town.
