ACTING President Amai Joice Mujuru is expected to leave for South Africa today to represent President Mugabe at the African National Congress’ Centenary Celebrations.
In a statement yesterday Presidential spokesperson Mr George Charamba said President Mugabe, who was personally invited by the ANC, could not attend the celebrations since he is on his annual leave in the Far East.

“His Excellency the President who started his annual leave recently, and who is in the Far East, is unable to personally attend these important celebrations, to which he was invited,” said Mr Charamba.

Acting President consoles Nyandoro family

Acting President Joice Mujuru yesterday sent a message of condolence to the Nyandoro family and Salvation Army territorial commander Commissioner Vinece Chigariro following the death of Retired Major Misheck Tapfumaneyi Nyandoro.

Rtd Major Nyandoro died at his Malbereign home on Monday.
Acting President Mujuru, who is also a salvationist, said she had learnt “with deep sorrow” of Rtd Nyandoro’s death.

She said she vividly remembered and still held fond memories of the 65th wedding anniversary of Rtd Majors Misheck and Mary Nyandoro at Harare Citadel in 2008.
