Operations at Sherwood mining claim suspended

AUTHORITIES have suspended operations at the Sherwood claim where alluvial gold was recently discovered to allow for the erection of a security fence and setting up of ablution facilities, Midlands Governor Jason Machaya has said.

There has been an increasing need to        showcase African musicians and film makers,     and Afro TV, an internet television channel, will    be launched in London on 31 March to do just that.
Founded by Zimbabwean, Sibongile Tendai Tamia Rukazhanga, the television channel aims to provide an alternative space to screen entertaining and educational programmes that include African music shows, entertainment news, dramas, movies and documentaries.

Sudan rebels say key govt outpost taken

Khartoum — Rebels in Sudan’s South Kordofan have captured a key government outpost near the state capital, a rebel spokesman said, but the country’s armed forces denied even being in the area.
The battle took place on Sunday at El-Ahmier, 30km southeast of Kadugli, said Arnu Ngutulu Lodi of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
“It was the last outpost of SAF south of Kadugli,” he told AFP, referring to the Sudanese armed forces.
Speaking from Kenya, Ngutulu said he had not yet received details of casualties, but the rebels had captured vehicles including an ambulance, as well as mortars, heavy and light machineguns and an anti-tank missile.
