The man, aged 46, pleaded guilty to rape before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mrs Judith Zuyu.
In passing sentence, the court said it had taken note of the fact that the man is already serving a jail term for sexually abusing the same complainant and that he abused the trust bestowed on him since the girl looked up to him for protection.
Mr Jabulani Mhlanga, for the State, told the court that sometime in June last year, the man asked the niece to come and collect some snacks, popularly known as jiggies, from his homestead.
She went to his homestead and when she got there, he grabbed her and dragged her into his sleeping hut where he undressed her and raped her once.
After being sexually abused, she went back to her homestead crying but she did not tell anyone about what had happened.
On 24 July, police received a tip-off and interviewed the complainant, who confessed that she had been raped but had been afraid to tell anyone.
