Prosecutor demands death sentence for Mubarak

CAIRO — The prosecution in the case against former Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak has demanded the death sentence for him and other defendants, including his two sons and the former interior minister.
Mubarak is facing charges of ordering the killing of protesters during the 18-day demonstrations which swept him from power last February.

Deadly bombing hits Damascus

Damascus — A suicide bombing hit Damascus yesterday, killing 25 and wounding dozens of mostly civilians, state media said, blaming “terrorists” for the second such attack on the Syrian capital in two weeks.
State television said the “powerful explosion” struck in the historic Midan quarter in the heart of the capital.
