No retail licences for foreigners: Kasukuwere

GOVERNMENT has ordered all local authorities to stop renewing and issuing new retail licences to foreigners as this contravened the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act, a Cabinet minister has said.
Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere yesterday said local authorities responsible should acquaint themselves with the provisions of the law.
“Any new licence should be issued in compliance with the provisions of the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act,” he said.

PRESIDENT Mugabe has extended the terms of office of all service chiefs as provided for by the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri’s term of office has been extended to 2014.
The length of the extension of the terms of Commanders of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Constantine Chiwenga, Zimbabwe National Army Commander Lieutenant General Philip Valerio Sibanda, Air Marshal Perrance Shiri and Commissioner of Prisons Retired Major General Paradzai Zimondi will be announced as and when their current ones expire.
Outrage over new draft constitution

COPAC’S first draft Constitution has sparked outrage with legal experts equating it to an orchestrated attack on the country’s moral, cultural and revolutionary pillars.
Sources said stakeholders are demanding that the document be rejected and referred back to the drafters who should rewrite it with clear instructions from Copac to transform the National Report into legal language.
Legal experts queried how the drafters could come up with a whole draft in the absence of an officially publicised National Report.
