adminInformation Communication Technology Minister Nelson Chamisa said Zimbabwe now comprised two types of people, the digital native and the digital immigrants.
“Junior parliamentarians act in a most sophisticated way than the digital immigrants,” he said. “I can see that they appear more organised than our own Parliament. The digital natives are those who were born after technology and the digital immigrants are those who were born before technology. The digital natives must have the knowledge of ICT. ICT are basically the oil that has to lubricate relationships.”
Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere further hailed the junior parliamentarians saying they have contributed a lot in the constitution making process.
“Children and young people make up half of the Zimbabwean population, as such their voice is critical in shaping the future of this country,” he said. “They have been with us since the beginning and this presentation of cellphones is part of empowering them in terms of ICT.”
Minister Kasukuwere urged Minister Chamisa to look into the junior Cabinet in terms of ICT. “I want to urge my colleague Chamisa to look into the junior Cabinet because last time he brought computers to the senior Cabinet only, this time start with the junior Cabinet,” he said.
Minister Kasukuwere said Econet’s support to youth was a commendable gesture towards the indigenisation and empowerment programme.
“This is a 100 percent Zimbabwean company, it is a company that has been able to conquer even beyond our borders,” he said.
