Constituency fund lands MP in court

ST MARY’S legislator Marvellous Khumalo yesterday appeared in court for allegedly diverting the Constituency Development Fund to his personal use.
The MP is reported to have bought himself a lorry before pocketing part of the money.
He was ordered to report once every week at the Anti-Corruption Commission.
He is also required to surrender his passport and not to interfere with witnesses and investigations.
Copac overhauls draft Constitution

THE Constitution Select Committee has made a raft of changes to the draft Constitution recently produced by principal drafters as it emerged that 70 percent of the information therein was notsolicited from the people.Some of the information in the draft, which analysts described as “organically flawed”, includes contentious clauses on presidential powers and term limits, dual citizenship and homosexuality.
Legal experts contend that the drafters came up with the phrase ‘‘natural differences’’ in a bid to smuggle homosexuality into the country’s supreme law.

ENERGY and Power Development Minister Elton Mangoma says Zesa Holdings will disconnect all defaulters as it seeks to settle US$80 million it owes Hydro Cahorra Basa of Mozambique.
Zesa is owed US$450 million by consumers.
“Zesa has availed to customers a facility to propose workable payment plans, regrettably some have chosen either to ignore this facility or not to honour their payment plans, leaving Zesa with no option except to withdraw supplies,” he said.
