Tracy Mutinhiri joins MDC-T

FORMER Zanu-PF Women’s League political commissar Mrs Tracy Mutinhiri has joined MDC-T.
The erstwhile Labour and Social Services deputy minister was expelled from Zanu-PF last year for “engaging in activities contrary to the party’s constitution”.

Mrs Mutinhiri joined MDC-T on Monday after making an application.
Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo said: “We are not surprised by the move taken. All indications from the time she was with us showed that she was always working with MDC-T. The reasons given by MDC-T for her dismissal are nonsensical.”

Cde Gumbo said Mrs Mutinhiri’s activities in the public service ministry were anti-Zanu-PF.
MDC-T spokesperson Mr Douglas Mwonzora said: “Mrs Mutinhiri has joined the happy MDC family. We welcome her with open hands and hope that she will find peace of her political mind in the MDC.

THE envisaged new Constitution should be a timeless document that safeguards Zimbabwe and its values and should not be used to introduce alien ideas, values and ethos inimical to the national interest, a senior army officer has said.

Addressing over 3000 2 Infantry Brigade troops in Mutoko on Tuesday, Army Chief of Staff Major General Martin Chedondo said the document being produced by Copac must endure for posterity.

“The Constitution, as the supreme law of the land, must be owned and must belong to the people.
“It must be timeless, meaning you do not make a Constitution in order to change it tomorrow.
“A Constitution must bind generations and of necessity must respect the values, ideals and ethos of a nation.

Town clerk fired

SUSPENDED Chitungwiza Town Clerk Mr Godfrey Tanyanyiwa has been found guilty of fraud and incompetence by a disciplinary authority appointed to deal with his case.
The municipality has since recommended his dismissal to the Local Government Board.

If the board accedes to the recommendation, Chitungwiza will advertise for a new town clerk.
The board convenes next Tuesday to deal with Mr Tanyanyiwa’s case and to approve a request by council to advertise for the posts of chamber secretary, director of housing and community services and director of health services.

Chamber secretary Ms Omega Mugumbate and health services director Dr Micah Simoyi resigned recently, while director of housing and community services Ms Jemina Gumbo was fired on charges of allocating and changing land uses illegally.
