We are dedicated Warriors’ fans

Dressed in an all-black outfit for that game against Burundi, Rahman gave away this image of a man who had come for his funeral, the day they would dig six feet deep to secure him away from the Warriors.
It has been a very good week — players reclaimed the back pages from the administrators, the Warriors kept alive their 2013 Nations Cup dream and our talismanic forward, Knowledge Musona, shamed the prophets of the devil.

Three chiefs fight over Great Zimbabwe control

George Maponga Masvingo Bureau
THREE traditional leaders here are reportedly feuding over the control and ownership of the Great Zimbabwe monument.
The stone monument, 30km outside Masvingo town, is where the name Zimbabwe is derived.
The chiefs all claim that the imposing and historic monument falls within their boundaries.

The monument was built in the 12th Century during the reign and dominance of the Mutapa Empire.
However, chiefs Nemamwa, Mugabe and Murinye are engaged in a bitter row over ownership of the World Heritage site.
The Mugabe and Murinye chieftainships belong to the Duma people while Nemamwa is linked to people of the Shumba totem.

Some historians however, claim that they belong to the Bonga totem.
Masvingo district administrator Mr James Mazvidza yesterday said the chiefs had reached a deadlock over who has jurisdiction over the ruins.
He said efforts to break the impasse failed dismally, forcing authorities to stop the process.
“There is indeed a deadlock amongst the three chiefs claiming that the monuments fall under their jurisdictions and we had started efforts to deal with the

AT least seven people were killed by their partners in separate incidents in 149 cases of domestic violence recorded countrywide last week.
The deaths were recorded in Bulawayo, Zhombe, Murehwa, Seke, Mutoko, Bindura and Siyabuwa in Matabeleland North Province.
Among the victims was a nine-month-old baby that was poisoned by its mother in Mutoko following an argument with her husband.

The two had reportedly argued over the paternity of the child.

“From these cases, seven deaths out of the 15 recorded last week were as a result of domestic violence,” he said.

High Court okays Zinara arrests

Daniel Nemukuyu Senior Court Reporter
THE High Court yesterday ruled that police are empowered to fine motorists not displaying new licence discs on their vehicles, despite the extension of the licensing deadline to June 30.

Justice Andrew Mutema made the ruling while dismissing an application by Harare lawyer and motorist Ms Roselyn Hanzi who sought to stop police from arresting motorists not displaying the new discs.
He said two notices by the Zimbabwe National Road Administration early this month on the extension of the deadline did not impact on police operations.
Justice Mutema absolved Zinara of any wrongdoing, saying Ms Hanzi and her lawyers rushed to file the court application without verifying the facts.
