OBITUARY:Masotsha Mike Hove — the man who saw it all

Mr Masotsha Mike Hove is no more. He passed on at midday on 25 June 2012. He was born in 1914. A teacher by profession, Masotsha became editor of the Bantu Mirror in 1947. When the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland was established in 1953, Masotsha ran for Parliament and won the Matabeleland seat, beating the late Vice-President, Cde Joshua Nkomo, to the seat. He later became Federal diplomat to Nigeria. Most people will remember him as the Regional Superintendent (Western Area) based in Luveve, a post he held till his retirement from Council employment in 1978.
