THE United States, which has in the past disputed Zimbabwean election processes, yesterday said the country’s polls have been held in a professional manner.

Speaking to journalists at the Bulawayo Press Club, newly accredited US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Bruce Wharton said his government now understands that it has no mandate interfering in  the internal politics of the country.

The US, together with its allies in the West, have been masterminding a regime change agenda in Zimbabwe using underhand agencies such as non-governmental organisations and pirate radio stations.

However, Ambassador Wharton said as the country gears for the 2013 harmonised elections Zimbabweans have the right to choose the leaders they want through an election process without any external influence.
