BCC major polluter of Umguza River — EMA

THE Bulawayo City Council is still the major entity polluting Umguza River, despite rehabilitating most of its broken down sewer system that was spewing raw sewage into the water.
Last year, the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) fined council about $10 000 for discharging raw sewage into the river.
Gwayi-Shangani Dam project kicks off

THE contractor in charge of the construction of Gwayi-Shangani Dam, China International Water and Electric, has moved on site and has started work on the project.
The project is a major component of the $1,2 billion National Matabeleland Zambezi Water Project (NMZWP), regarded as the permanent solution to Bulawayo’s perennial water shortages.

HIGHLANDERS FC will use next Wednesday’s international friendly match against Mamelodi Sundowns at Barbourfields Stadium to prepare for next month’s Bob Super Cup tournament against Dynamos.
The Bob Super Cup competition is part of the celebrations to mark President Robert Mugabe’s 89th birthday on 21 February.
This year’s final will be played over two legs with Barbourfields Stadium playing host to the first leg on 10 February with the final leg set for Rufaro Stadium a fortnight later on 24 February.
