Council reduces water shedding
Chronicle Reporter
THE Bulawayo City Council yesterday reduced the water shedding scheme from 96 hours to 72 hours per week with effect from yesterday.
In a statement, the city council’s senior public relations officer, Mrs Nesisa Mpofu said the move had been necessitated by some inflows into the city’s dams.
“We have reduced the water shedding schedule from 96 hours per week to 72 hours,” said Mrs Mpofu.
“This has been necessitated by some inflows into the city’s dams, which have brought overall combined percentage total from 37 percent as from the 31 December 2012 to 45 percent as at 7 February 2013.”
Mrs Mpofu, however, said the new water schedule was subject to change in cases of emergency and urged residents to use water sparingly.Mali rebels launch guerilla attack on Gao
