INCUMBENT ZIFA vice president Omega Sibanda was in bullish mood yesterday as the euphoria around the elections to choose a new executive committee heightened ahead of the association’s pools in Harare on Sunday. Sibanda, along with his boss Philip Chiyangwa and board member finance Philemon Machana, will need to shake off their challengers and secure a full term to administer the country’s biggest sport.
Raise presidential age limit: Women
THE ZANU-PF Women’s League has joined war veterans in pushing for a constitutional amendment to raise the presidential age limit from 40 to 52 years. Members of the league from the country’s 10 provinces resolved to lobby for the amendment to ensure those who contest for the presidency are mature enough to fully grasp the gravity of what it means to run a country.
Heavy rains time to plant, farmers told
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) yesterday said the skies should start clearing tomorrow after heavy rains and thunderstorms that were experienced in most parts of the country over the weekend. This comes as farmers have been urged to take advantage of the recent rains to intensify planting of summer crops and land preparations.
