The search for the provincial representatives that will battle it out at the 2024 Chibuku Road to Fame national finals has started.
Harare’s representatives will be selected at Tanza Bar in Chitungwiza this Saturday. The contest for Matabeleland South representatives will be held at Malaxo Beerhall in Beitbridge on Saturday.
The competition, which runs from September 28 to November 9, is held in collaboration with the National Arts of Zimbabwe.
This year’s edition will run under the theme “Bvirarira, Tshay’iNgoma”.
Organisers, Delta Corporation, through their Chibuku brand, have been hailed for giving rising stars the platform to unearth new talent.
“With a rich history of success, the competition continues to empower aspiring musicians, creating countless success stories along the way.
“This initiative also offers Chibuku a unique opportunity to connect with and engage consumers nationwide, with thrilling provincial competitions taking place across the country,” said Delta
Corporation marketing director, Irimayi Muzorewa in a statement.
The grand prize for the finale is pegged at US$15 000, complemented with a recording deal, while the second finalists will pocket US$10 000 and a recording deal.
The third-placed group will get a US$7 500 prize money plus a recording deal.
Midlands Afro-fusion outfit, 911 Band, were the winners of last year’s edition.
Other Chibuku Road To Fame past winners are Romeo Gasa , Club Shanga, Munandi Express, Terry and Bliss, among others.
